The onions we planted last November became ready to harvest.
We should harvest them on a sunny day because rain and mud causes bacterial damage on onions.
Although it was going to rain on this day, but leaving them unharvested also causes damage so we had no choice.
No muscle needed, you just have to gently pull them out of the soil, and it’s fun.
The brown thing on this side is my head, not a gigantic onion by the way.
If you wish them to last long, hang them in a shady, dry and well ventilated place like this.
The onion smells all over the place make our eyes watery.
We also harvested Japanese pepper which we make pickles out of.
- Wash them
- Boil them for 10 minutes
- Soak them with running water to remove harshness for 30 minutes
- Dry them
- Bottle them with sliced garlic and Soy sauce

Right after we finished harvesting, the rain started to fall.
