The new painting is about “Taira no Masakado”, a Samurai who lived in Heian period.
Although I am not a traditional Japanese style artist, I’m started to get interested in the profundity of Japanese history and its art, and trying to express them in oil.
This guy is famous for his legend and myths because he stood against the central government, later dramatically killed and beheaded, and his head was brought to the capital to display.
The legend says his head took flight on its own and landed in central Tokyo and even today his “grave of the head” causes disasters and misfortunes.
